SALA - All you need is ...

We kick off SALA’s 25th year early, opening my studio from 30th July.

I’m so delighted to be collaborating with some new friends and my besties from ‘A Bus Full of Art’. Six years on we are reflecting on what we need in our art, what brings us time and time again to the easel in a group exhibition ‘All you need is…’

As you can imagine it’s very different for every artist! Can you guess who responded with “humour, fur, perspective, the outback, tigers, light and a beverage or two?”

It is very difficult to wrap up our inspirations in one word, so every day a different artist will expand on her art practise with a talk at 2pm. For a schedule please go to www.catherinefitz-gerald.com/events

We are open Saturdays and Sundays 10 - 4 from July 30th to August 21st.

Participating artists : Ursula Kissling, Bronwen Roodenrys, Catherine Fitz-Gerald, Marie Jonsson-Harrison, Lyndy Danby, Anni Hill and Sue Davel.

Water Words & Water Ways 2020

Warburton Inlet,crop.jpeg

Confluence, a coming together, of children, waters and words. View the outcome of the workshop completed by Grade 5 students from Rose Park Primary School as they have responded to my WATER WAYS 2020 installation. The workshop resulted in a waterfall of words about water, its absence, climate change and the possibilities of action.

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, Catherine Fitz-Gerald asks that audiences book in a time to see the combined exhibition by clicking the link below.

SALA - Open Studio

COVID19 has encouraged many of us to be more creative in the kitchen, learn new skills or reinvigorate a project we had put on the back burner. In my case all three apply in the A-Z community cookbook of recipes featuring fruit I began during my residency at Adelaide Central Markets in 2017.

Every day in August I'll post a new letter and recipe in my blog https://bit.ly/alphabetfruit20 Follow along each day and email me your favourite family recipes so this truly becomes a community project.

You may remember it was hard to find fruits for some letters, I couldn’t get Ugli fruit as they grow in Jamaica, but your suggestions to change languages works a treat and I’m now deciding between Ume, Japanese for plum or Uzum, Turkish for Grape. It all depends on the best recipes!

To comply with the new health regulations I have created my Open Studio as a free ticketed event with morning and afternoon sessions, to ensure appropriate social distancing in my home. Please book by clicking

Or you can contact me directly via my Contact page to arrange an individual visit.
